Do as I SAY
The things we tell our kids.
“Get off your phone.”
“Don’t talk with your mouth full.”
“You’re going to miss your train.”
“Why don’t you get up a bit earlier?”
“That's enough caffeine.”
“It’s too late to be out on your own.”
“Don’t leave your clothes on the floor.”
“We can’t afford it.”
“It’ll be fine.”
“You’re not going out wearing that.”
“Always tell the truth.”
“Save your money.”
“That should go in the recycling.”
“You’re not letting me finish.”
“Don’t yell!”
“Eat your vegetables.”
“Share your toys.”
“It’s best to do your homework straight away.”
“You need a good night’s sleep.”
“Don’t talk to strangers.”
“Don’t swear.”
“Wait your turn.”
“They’re bad for your teeth.”
“It’s just a game.”
“Be kind.”
It’s called the ‘say do gap’.
Qualitative research is building a bridge.
Or digging a tunnel.
